Housing Development

Hilltown CDC develops housing for sale to low and moderate-income first-time homebuyers, rental housing for low and moderate-income tenants, and affordable housing for senior citizens.

The most common type of housing in the Hilltown area is single-family detached homes, many of which are not affordable to households with modest incomes.  The scarcity of rental housing creates an additional challenge for people who are priced out of the housing market.  In addition, many senior citizens living in the Hilltowns need affordable, low maintenance housing options.  Hilltown CDC’s housing development work is designed to address these housing needs by developing a variety of affordable housing options.

During the last several years, Hilltown CDC has developed and sold seventeen new or rehabilitated homes.  Currently thirty units of rental housing are owned in the Hilltown area.  Rental housing includes apartments with two, three or four bedrooms in renovated buildings in Haydenville, Williamsburg, Chesterfield and Huntington.

Hilltown CDC also built the Westhampton Woods Senior Housing complex, which is owned by Westhampton Senior Housing, Inc., and most recently completed 11 single-family detached condominium houses on a 22-acre site on Laurel Road in Haydenville.  Homes and apartments developed by Hilltown CDC are preserved as affordable housing for the long-term.

For more information on Hilltown CDC’s affordable housing, contact Paul at (413) 296-4536 ext 34.  Hilltown residents and local organizations with an interest in affordable housing are encouraged to contact us to discuss our programs or tell us about the housing needs in your community.
